Sand Collection in NK Resumed

A South Korean vessel is collecting sand in North Korea for the first time since the inter-Korean naval clash last month.

The Unification Ministry allowed a South Korean importer to resume sand collections in the North on November 25th, some two weeks after the naval clash.

The South Korean firm, which had already paid the North for the sand, suspended sand collections due to the naval skirmish.

It’s not known whether the government will allow continued imports after the already-purchased shipments are brought in from the North.

The South Korean vessel collecting sand in North Korea's city of Haeju voluntarily returned home in the wake of the November tenth naval skirmish.
