South Korea and Japan, co-hosts of this year's World Cup finals, will carry out a joint maritime anti-terrorism drill next week. Patrol ships and helicopters from the Korean Maritime Police and the Japanese Coast Guard will participate in the exercise set for nest Wednesday in the southern port city of Busan. The spokesman for the Korean Maritime Police said the joint drill will focus on suppressing terrorists and hooligans on ships carrying passengers between the two host countries. More than one thousand-200 South Korean special police troops have been under intensive training to deal with possible terrorist attacks and hooliganism during the World Cup finals. Safety concerns have intensified in South Korea in the wake of the September terrorist attacks in the United States. The World Cup kicks off at the end of this month in Seoul for a one month run ... with the final match to be held in Yokohama, Japan on June 30th.
