First Lady delivers UNICEF's Signatures for Children

Over in New York, First Lady Lee Hee-ho has joined U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan and former South African President Nelson Mandela in the "Celebration of Leadership for Children." During the ceremony held before the closure of the U.N. Children's Conference, they received a list of signatures collected in UNICEF's child protection campaign and delivered it to the United Nations. The signatures were collected from 80 million people worldwide in support of the UNICEF's campaign for children. The campaign is pushing ten priority projects aimed at giving children everywhere the right to health, peace and dignity. In a video-taped speech to the ceremony, President Kim Dae-jung spoke of the rights and welfare of children which he said should take the highest priority. Lee attended the U.N. conference leading the Korean delegation on behalf of President Kim Dae-jung. The three-day meeting ended on Friday.
