U.S. Special Envoy Leaves for China

U.S. special representative for North Korea policy Stephen Bosworth left for China Friday afternoon.

Bosworth took a plane from the U.S. Air Force base in Osan, Gyeonggi Province. He plans to discuss the results of his visit to the North with Chinese officials. After his visit to China, Bosworth will go to Japan, then Russia.

Bosworth returned to Seoul on Thursday after visiting Pyongyang as U.S. president Barack Obama’s special envoy.

In a news conference on Thursday, Bosworth said the meeting with North Korean officials produced common understandings on the need to resume the six-party talks. But he said it remains to be seen when and how North Korea will return to the six-party talks.
