U.S.: “Confiscation of NK Weapons Unrelated to Six-Party Talks”

A U.S. government official said Thailand’s seizure of a vessel transporting North Korean weapons en route to a third country would not be a negative influence on the efforts to resume the six-party denuclearization talks.

He implied that Washington would continue pushing for dialogue with North Korea.

Meanwhile, State Department spokesman Kelly has also previously stated that this does not appear to be directly related to the North Korean nuclear program, apart from the fact that the rogue state is increasingly refusing to comply with sanctions set by the international community.

He thus implied that the confiscation of North Korean arms would not affect dialogue on the North’s nuclear issue.
