The “Godfather of Korean Rock Music” Shin Joong-Hyun became the first Asian rock musician to be presented with a custom-made tribute Fender guitar. Fender is the world’s most prestigious guitar maker.

The guitarist, who is 71 this year, became the sixth guitar player to be decorated with a Fender guitar in recognition for his contribution to Korean rock music during the past 50 years.

Only five other musicians have been acknowledged for their legendary music with a tribute Fender guitar. They are Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Yngwie Malmsteen, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Eddie Van Halen.

Shin said this honor felt like a dream and that it is extremely meaningful as the world has come to recognize Korean rock music.
