North Korea’s Korean Central News Agency says the North’s population stood at around 24 million as of October of last year.

The state-run news agency made the announcement as it revealed the results of a census report that was conducted over the course of 15 days in October 2008.

The report was compiled with the assistance of 40-thousand people and support from the U.N. Population Fund.
