NIS Suspects NK Hacked War Plan

The National Intelligence Service suspects North Korea may be behind the recent hacking of training material for a classified South Korean-U.S. war plan known as OPLAN 5027.

The spy agency told a National Assembly meeting Tuesday that although the hacker used a Chinese Internet protocol address and despite there being no solid evidence implicating the North, the agency suspects Pyongyang may have been involved.

OPLAN 5027 is designed to cope with North Korean contingencies.

Concerning the currency reform in North Korea, the NIS reported that the situation has been settled for the most part and that it believes the North is no longer in a state of confusion.

Also during the meeting, the parliament cut next year's intelligence-related budget by three billion won.
