NK Ship Found Stranded in Waters off Sokcho

The South Korean Coast Guard has rescued a North Korean ship and crew that was stranded in the waters near Gangwon Province.

The Korea Coast Guard said the 280-ton North Korean ship, which was carrying 30 tons of scallops, was found to be stranded in front of Dongmyeong Port in Sokcho, Gangwon Province, at around 8 a.m. Monday.

The South Korean Coast Guard towed the boat to port at around 9:30 a.m.

The Coast Guard says the North Korean ship was stranded when it struck a concrete breakwater after having departed from the North’s South Hamgyeong Province.
