Gov't to Assemble Database of Gaeseong Workers

The government will make an official database of South Korean company workers employed at the Gaeseong Industrial Complex in North Korea.

The names and information of workers at the complex and officials who make frequent cross-border visits will be registered with the database in order to prevent illegal entry into the complex by South Koreans disguised as Gaeseong employees.

The measure will take effect at the beginning of next month.

In October, four Paju City council members forged an application, pretending to be Gaeseong complex employees. They received state approval to visit the North while they were, in fact, visiting for travel purposes.
