The Defense Ministry will establish a military orchestra to boost soldiers' morale.

The proposed orchestra will be comprised of 22 existing players within the military brass band and 45 new members.

A ministry official said Tuesday that a military orchestra is expected to allow musicians to continue to train their musical talents even after they join the military and to promote musical exchanges between civilians and the military.

The ministry on Wednesday will hold an inaugural ceremony for the military orchestra at the Seoul National Cemetery. The orchestra will hold a concert on February tenth at the Seoul Arts Center to celebrate its foundation.
