Koreas to Hold Talks to Review Joint Overseas Inspection

South and North Korea will hold a meeting next week to evaluate the results of a joint inspection of overseas industrial parks.

The meeting, proposed by the South, will be held on Tuesday at an inter-Korean economic cooperation office at the Gaeseong Industrial Complex in North Korea.

The inter-Korean inspection team went to China and Vietnam in the middle of last month to examine industrial complexes in order to learn ways to advance the Gaeseong complex.

Next week’s meeting, if realized, will be the first between officials from the two sides this year.

If both sides are able to narrow differences on pending issues regarding the operation of the Gaeseong complex during the review meeting, a round of working-level talks is likely to be scheduled to discuss the Gaeseong matters in more detail.
