Minister Hopes to Resume Nuke Talks in February

Foreign Minister Yu Myung-hwan says he is hoping the six-party talks for the denuclearization of North Korea will resume around the Lunar New Year.

At a briefing for domestic and foreign media on Friday, Yu said a consensus was reached amongst Korea, China, the U.S., Japan and Russia, and that North Korea was probably feeling a need to resume the disarmament talks.

He added that it was undesirable to continue to leave the nuclear talks in a stalemate.

Korea’s Lunar New Year holiday falls on February 13th to the 15th.
