Top Univ. Mulls Changing Student Admissions System

Seoul National University says it is considering changing the way it selects students from next year.

The nation’s top university said Sunday that seven of its colleges, including those of humanities, social sciences and engineering, have begun discussing changing the scope and method of selecting applicants.

Seoul National's dean of admissions, Kim Myung-hwan, said the colleges will begin discussions this week and establish before March new guidelines for next year.

The university is known to be considering reintroducing a system in which each department selects students instead of having each college do so.

Seoul National's move is expected to affect the way other universities admit students.
