UM: Inter-Korean Talks to Proceed as Planned

Unification Minister Hyun In-taek says inter-Korean talks scheduled for Monday will proceed despite North Korea’s firing of artillery shells near the Yellow Sea border on Wednesday.

Hyun told a seminar in Seoul that working-level talks will be held as planned on Monday at the inter-Korean Gaeseong Industrial Complex in the North.

He said that Seoul will place priority on maintaining stability on the Korean Peninsula and that South Korea will attend the South-North talks with uncompromised principles and commitment.

In addition, Hyun urged the North to immediately stop creating unnecessary tensions and show sincerity in its dealings with the South.
