Top Office Urges Paradigm Shift in S-N Ties

The presidential office says South Korea’s intent regarding inter-Korean summit talks is to shift the paradigm of cross-border relations.

In a Sunday briefing, top aide for public affairs Lee Dong-kwan said President Lee Myung-bak believes that event-like summit talks, such as those that have been held in the past, are meaningless.

The aide also hinted that negotiations are under way with Noth Korea to arrange an inter-Korean summit by saying that South-North relations these days will not be halted altogether like in the past due to a tension-causing situation, such as the North’s artillery firings into the Yellow Sea last week.
