Under-Secretary General of the United Nations for Political Affairs Lynn Pascoe will first visit Seoul from Saturday to Monday before heading over to Pyeongyang.

The South Korean Foreign Ministry said Pascoe will meet with Foreign Minister Yu Myung-hwan and Vice Foreign Minister Chun Young Woo, where he will discuss issues of mutual interest, including those related to the Korean Peninsula.

Meanwhile, this is the first visit to North Korea by a top U.N. envoy since Secretary General Ban Ki-moon took office. Pascoe is scheduled to arrive in North Korea next Tuesday, where he will stay until his last day Friday.
