NK Again Designates Firing Zones Near NLL

North Korea has again designated "naval firing zones" near the Northern Limit Line.

The North designated areas east of the islands of Baengnyeong and Daecheong in the Yellow Sea as temporary firing zones, saying the designation will be in effect from Friday to Monday for the areas near the inter-Korean maritime border.

The North also reportedly plans to designate as firing zones one more area in the East Sea and four more in the Yellow Sea from Saturday to Monday.

The communist state said the areas that will be designated are the same areas that were named firing zones for a period lasting from January 31st to February second.

The Defense Ministry in Seoul has placed weapon-locating radar systems on five islands in the Yellow Sea, adding that it would be able to identify the point of firing in the event the North fires shells.
