NK Announces Release of US Citizen

North Korea says it will release the Korean-American human rights activist Robert Park who illegally entered North Korea in December.

The North’s Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) announced the results of its probe into Park’s illegal entry on Friday, saying that the decision to release Park was based on the American’s acknowledgement and regret for his deed and his realization of misperceptions about North Korea.

The North did not, however, announce a date for when it plans to release Park.

The 29-year-old crossed the Tumen River on the China-North Korea border into the reclusive state on December 25th in an alleged attempt to shed light on human rights violations in the North.
