Chinese Envoy May Meet NK Leader Monday

Top Chinese official Wang Jiarui may meet North Korean leader Kim Jong-il on Monday in Pyongyang.

Since taking the post of chair of the Chinese Communist Party's international department in 2003, Wang has visited the North four times. Each time he has held talks with Kim.

The envoy is known to be carrying a letter from Chinese President Hu Jintao urging the North to return to the six-party dialogue.

On Sunday, Wang paid respects at Geumsusan Memorial Palace where late North Korean founder Kim Il-sung lies in state. Wang also met with a number of North Korean officials, including his counterpart from the North's Workers' Party Kim Yong-il.

Wang will stay in Pyongyang until Tuesday.
