The European Union will decide early next month whether to take a shipbuilding dispute with South Korea to the World Trade Organization. The Korean Shipbuilders' Association said the E-U will make a final decision at a meeting of shipbuilders set for June sixth and seventh in Brussels. The E-U is accusing the South Korean government of subsidizing its shipbuilders to undercut European competitors. But South Korea is denying the charges. The E-U is also calling for resumption of subsidies for its own shipbuilders. Officials in Seoul say though that European countries are divided over the issue ... making it difficult to forge a unified stand. The association said that even if the E-U files a complaint, Seoul is not very much concerned because the E-U has nothing to prove its claim.
