World Cup eve celebrations drew cheers & World Cup trophy arrives at Seoul World Cup Stadium

On the eve of the World Cup, Sotuh Korea celebrated the global soccer tournament with colorful events. A series of Korean and international folk performances were held at the Han River Citizen Park in southern Seoul on Thursday afternoon. The day was capped off by the official eve ceremony, the "Eve Festival," with world famous singers and artists taking the stage in front of the Seoul World Cup Stadium. Among those who participated in the day's celebratory event were British actor Roger Moore and his wife. As peace ambassadors to the World Cup, they delivered a prayer of peace in front of the World Cup stadium. "The Eve Festival" includes a classical and pop music concert featuring live performances by world-famous musicians and Korean pop favorites. With the theme, "Arm in Arm," the evening festival like the day's earlier events featured elements of Korea's cultural past and present. After a tour of 19 other host cities in South Korea and Japan, the World Cup trophy has arrived at the Seoul World Cup Stadium. On Thursday, the distinctive golden trophy went on public view for seven hours at a ceremony attended by officials of the Seoul City government and official sponsors of the soccer tournament.
