2002 World Cup kicks off  : Segegal beats France one to nothing in the opening match

In the opening match which followed moments after the opening ceremony, World Cup debutants Senegal beat defending champion France one to nothing. The frist goal of the 2002 World Cup was made in the first half of the match by Papa Bouba Diop of Senegal. France took the lead in the first half but gave one goal to the first time qualifier, which made the best of the crucial chance. The world's star, Zinedine Zidane didn't join the French team for the opening match because of the injury he had in a friendly match with Korea. On the second day will take place three matches between Ireland and Cameroon, at 3:30 pm, Uraguay and Denmark at 6 pm and Germany and Saudarabia at 8:30.
