Pres. Kim welcomes foreign visitors to World Cup

President Kim Dae-jung has sent out a welcoming message to foreign visitors now in Seoul for the World Cup soccer tournament. The president said he hopes the games will inspire peace, harmony and hope for the future. In the message carried by English dailies in Seoul, the president said this year's World Cup is truly more significant than all its predecessors in several ways. The message said the Two-thousand-two World Cup is the first to be held in Asia, the first to be co-hosted, and the biggest sports event since the September eleventh terrorist attacks in the United States. Kim assured the travelers of safety and comfort throughout the tournament, saying South Korea is trying to make the best and most convenient arrangements for visitors. He promised Korea will try its best to become friendly hosts so that foreign visitors can discover many aspects of the dynamic Korea of today.
