Korean team head coach Guus Hiddink indicated Monday that injured South Korean mid-fielder Lee Young-pyo, who will miss his team's World Cup opener against Poland in Pusan Tuesday, may not be able to join the squad's match next Monday against the United States. He stated that Lee's injury is more serious than originally thought, in an interview at Kyongju Hyundai Hotel, before leading his men to Pusan for their meeting with Poland. The Anyang LG mid-fielder tore a calf muscle during a practice session Saturday and doctors have ruled him out of the Poland game. Lee has been instrumental in bolstering South Korea's mid-field and their ability to pressure opponents. Hiddink said he will review Lee's condition in two to three days to make a decision on whether he will deploy the mid-fielder in the contest with the United States.
