KBS Marks 37th Anniversary in Ceremony

The KBS president vowed to provide solid public broadcasting services during a ceremony that marked the 37th anniversary of the broadcaster's founding on Tuesday.

KBS President Kim In-kyu said during his remarks that the values of a public broadcaster are fairness and to eliminate provocation. He stressed the need for KBS to actively work to realize these values and to impartially report the facts.

Kim added that the broadcaster launched an election broadcasting project team to help ensure that the June local elections will be conducted fairly. He also said that KBS should clearly demonstrate that it will not broadcast provocative programs.

During Tuesday’s ceremony, former culture minister, Yoon Joo-young, received an appreciation plaque for his contribution to the founding and development of KBS. In addition, some 300 other employees received awards at the ceremony.
