Written: 2010-03-07 11:33:17Updated: 2010-03-07 15:17:52

The women's rights organization Equality Now has released a report saying the legal status of Korean women has improved.

The report was released ahead of International Women's Day Monday.

The report also mentioned 31 nations that have scrapped or revised gender discriminatory provisions including Korea, France and India.

But the group says 36 countries including Japan, Israel, Singapore and Yemen apparently have no plans to abolish laws putting women's status secondary to men's.
