Savoring the taste of one of the most remarkable victories in World Cup history, U.S. coach Bruce Arena Wednesday commended his players for a great team effort and said he never at any time doubted his team's ability to win the match with Portugal. With co-hosts Korea next on the agenda for the U.S., Arena was in no mood to get carried away, saying, "Obviously (the players) are very happy, but at the same time they realize this is only one game." Scorer of the winning goal Brian McBride said that the pace with which the U.S. came out of the traps stunned Portugal and that taking the lead in only the fourth minute was a big factor. The Columbus Crew forward said...it was important to come out quick...to get out strong. He also commented on Portugal's strong second half fight back. He added...they awoke a pretty big beast.
