The government repeated warnings Wednesday it will crack down on any protest held near World Cup venues, reacting to tips that labor and activist groups were organizing anti-U.S. demonstrations. An official said...the government will continue with its public security vigilance so that the World Cup games can proceed in safety. Security officials said they received tips that anti-U.S. protests are planned at Daegu and Daejon when the American soccer team has matches in those cities on June 10 and 14. They said labor groups in Incheon are also believed to be planning a protest near the game venue on Sunday. South Korea has imposed a special security zone for a radius of 1 kilometer around World Cup game sites to ban all demonstrations during the World Cup period.
