What comes to your mind first when you think of South Korea? Well, according to a recent survey of foreign consumers, a divided land and then the World Cup are the first image they get from Korea. Thirty-three percent of respondents said territorial division is the first thing that comes to their mind when they think of Korea while 29 percent said it's the World Cup. As for Korean companies' brand image ... 27 percent cited Samsung as Korea's most widely known brand, followed by Hyundai at 23 percent, Daewoo 18 percent, L-G at 14 percent and Kia at ten percent. When asked how much they know about Korea, 28 percent said they know either very much or much, 37 percent said they know little or nothing about Korea ... with 35 percent saying they know just about the average. As for Korea's overall image, 51 percent said they have a positive image of Korea while only seven percent said they have a negative image. The survey was conducted by the Korea National Tourism Organization at the end of last month on 12-thousand people in 72 countries.
