Guus Hiddink, Dutch-born coach of the Korean national soccer squad, has become an example of leadership for Korean business firms, due mostly to his success in leading his team to a win over Poland in the World Cup finals preliminary match. The Samsung Group said Saturday its restructuring headquarters, Samsung Life, Samsung Heavy Industries and Samsung Techwin told its officers to come up with a program to adopt some of Hiddink's leadership and reflect it on their managerial strategies. Samsung, on its internal broadcasting, said the Dutch coach set up a clear goal to his players, which is moving into the second round in the World Cup tournament, a move that is similar to setting corporate management goals backed up by a clear vision. The conglomerate said Hiddink's stress on physical fitness means to be faithful to basics of corporate management, including sound financial structure.
