According to police.....a 30-year-old British national has been arrested by the Hokkaido prefectural police and faces deportation after being identified by British police as a soccer "hooligan" in his home country. Sapporo immigration officials, who were alerted of the man's history by the police, on Sunday revoked permission for him to stay in Japan, and he is expected to be deported soon. The arrest is the second of a British citizen deemed a troublemaker in his own country who had already entered Japan. According to investigations, police patrolling the area around the stadium on Friday thought the man might be a ticket scalper, as he was approaching supporters in a Sapporo park with two World Cup tickets in his hand. Sapporo Dome was the venue of the England-Argentina match Friday night, which ended in a 1-0 victory for England that was unmarred by post-game fan violence or chaos, as was widely feared. The police said...the Briton, who arrived at Narita airport near Tokyo on May 31, is charged with violating the Japanese immigration law. They added....he did not have his passport on him when he was apprehended. According to the police, he had been fined and sentenced to prison for "hooligan" behavior in 1999 and 2000.
