Signs of NK Leader’s Visit to China

Signs are appearing of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il’s rumored plan to visit China.

A source in Dandong in China's northeastern border with North Korea said there have been rumors since Sunday of increased security by Dandong station and surrounding facilities. These checks in Dandong were believed to have been conducted by people who appear to be North Korean security personnel.

A source in Beijing said there have been sightings of a group of North Koreans arriving on an international train from Pyongyang. They were also seen heading to the North Korean embassy in Beijing.

A suspension of mobile phone communications in certain areas of Dandong is also giving rise to rumors that it may be related to Kim’s visit.

There is speculation that Kim’s visit to China may take place in three or four days.
