US: N.Korea should Return to 6-Party Talks

Washington says if North Korea increases its production of nuclear weapons in retaliation to the Nuclear Posture Review, the communist state will pay a price for it.

State Department spokesman Philip Crowley said that if North Korea has concerns about what is in the Nuclear Posture Review, it can control what happens next. If it comes back to the six-party process and takes affirmative steps toward denuclearization, then it has nothing to fear from the Nuclear Posture Review that the State Department released this week.

On a question if Pyongyang had presented any prior conditions through China to come back to the six-party Talks, Crowley would only say that the ball is in North Korea’s court.

North Korea had said Friday that it would increase its stock of nuclear weapons and modernize them in response to the NPR. The North claimed the NPR is a violation of the September 19 Joint Declaration and efforts to resume the six-party talks.
