The Seoul City government has decided to support ten outstanding designers on an annual basis in a bid to promote the advancement of Korean fashion brands in the global market.

The city government said Tuesday that it will make its selections from those who participate in the Annual Seoul Fashion Week.

The ten selected designers will have the opportunity to take part in the world-renowned Tranoi trade show in Paris and the Seoul Collection that will also open in the French capital in October.

Seoul will also select one designer among the ten to support for one year with publicity efforts and with showrooms abroad.

Seoul said it plans to have 270 Korean brands advance into fashion-leading cities --- including Paris, London and New York --- by 2020.
