South Korean politicians praise the national team as heroes

On the jubilant Tuesday night of South Korea's dramatic World Cup victory over pre-tournament favorites Italy, President Kim Dae-jung said the accomplishment symbolized the country's destiny of unlimited prosperity and strength. According to Kim's chief of staff, Park Jie-won, president Kim said he would attend Saturday's quarter-final clash against Spain in Gwangju. Kim phoned head coach Guus Hiddink to thank and congratulate him for the victory. Kim said he is very proud to see the Korean team win and thanked Coach Hiddink and all the Korean players for their great accomplishment. The Dutchman also thanked Kim for the call and the people for their strong support for the team so far.
