S-N Trade for March Jumps 89% from Last Year

The volume of trade between the two Koreas was found to have jumped nearly 90 percent in March year-on-year.

According to the Korea Customs Service Wednesday, inter-Korean trade for March stood at over 203 million U.S. dollars, up 88-and-a-half percent from the same period last year.

South Korea exported 84 million dollars worth of goods to the North and imported 119 million dollars worth of North Korean goods.

The accumulated volume of trade for the first quarter amounted to some 527 million dollars, up more than 64 percent from the same period last year.

Around 84 percent of shipments to the North and some 56 percent of those from the North were carried out via an overland route that runs through the South’s Dorasan Station.
