NK Confirms Kim Jong-il's China Trip

North Korea's official Korean Central News Agency reported Friday that leader Kim Jong-il paid an unofficial visit to China from Monday to Friday at the invitation of Chinese President Hu Jintao.

The news agency said that Kim first visited the northeastern Chinese city of Dalian and toured companies and factories there before heading to Tianjin.

But the news agency did not mention Kim’s visit to Beijing or summit talks with Hu.

The report also identified the North Korean officials who accompanied Kim on the trip, including First Vice Foreign Minister Kang Sok-ju and Workers' Party secretaries Kim Ki-nam and Choe Thae-bok.
