Gov't mulls allowing people to take July 1 off for cup festival

The government is considering designating July 1 as a national holiday to commemorate the feat the Korean national soccer team achieved in the World Cup soccer finals co-hosted by Korea and Japan. July 1 will likely be designated as a national holiday regardless of whether Koran advances into finals because Korea's entry into the semifinals is the feat which the whole nation should celebrate. The government is also considering reenacting the opening ceremony in the Sangamdong World Stadium on July 1, one day after the World Cup closing ceremony is completed in Yokohgama, Japan.
