The Korea Football Association (KFA) confirmed Sunday.Members of Korea's triumphant soccer team will be receiving huge bonuses for landing a berth in the semifinals. The KFA had announced in May that players will be given 100 million won if the team reach the second phase of the competition, with the reward money for each player going up by 100 million for every victory afterwards. As a result of the "bonus scheme" the 23 players on the team have earned 300 million won apiece as they reached the second round of the World Cup and scored two wins in their matches against Italy and Spain. If the team manage to beat Germany in Tuesday's match in Seoul and goes on to lift the World Cup trophy in Yokohama they will get 500 million won from the KFA. In addition to this, the government has promised to augment the hefty bonus by giving players and additional 100 million won for reaching the last 16, and there is a possibility that they may be given a portion of the money allotted to the KFA by FIFA. The world governing soccer body will give the national soccer association 9.52 billion won for reaching the semifinals.
