President Kim Dae-jung said Wednesday that Korea should apply its national resources and enthusiasm shown during the World Cup to its economy. During a meeting with economic ministers in the morning, President Kim said Korea's national image, which has been refurbished thanks to the World Cup, offers a great opportunity to march toward becoming an economically advanced country. President Kim also said the national unity and sophisticated citizenship Korean people have shown during the World Cup will provide a good momentum for future policy-making, company management and labor-management negotiations. Kim added that both the government and private companies should take full advantage of the World Cup effect to upgrade the Korean economy.
