NK: Cheonan Evidence was Fabricated

The North Korean military says that South Korea's evidence pointing to a torpedo attack by the North on its "Cheonan" warship was fabricated.

In a lengthy editorial, the North’s military said the torpedo fragments, gunpowder residue and the Korean lettering presented by the South are all fabrications.

The North's Korean Central Television also reported the same claim in a special program aired Wednesday night.

The editorial blasted the U.S., the U.K. and Australia --- all of which participated in South Korea's investigation into the incident --- calling them a group of gadflies who assisted Seoul to produce a reason to internationally pressure Pyongyang.

Experts say the North's goal in issuing the editorial is to continue to secure Chinese support and to raise speculation in South Korea.
