The Defense Security Command has requested an arrest warrant for a two-star Army general for allegedly leaking military secrets to North Korea.
The active duty Major General, identified as Kim, is charged with having turned over to the North part of the South Korea-U.S. Operations Plan (OPLAN) 5027 through a former South Korean spy, identified as Park. Park has been allegedly recruited by the North and was arrested last week on charges of selling the confidential information to North Korea.
OPLAN 5027 contains the current South Korea-U.S. Combined Forces Command’s operational plan for defense and counterattack in the event a war breaks out between the two Koreas. First drafted in 1974, the operations plan has undergone numerous revisions and supplementations.
