NK to Hold News Conference on Cheonan at UN Wed.

North Korea's deputy ambassador to the United Nations says the North will explain its irrelevance to the "Cheonan" incident at a U.N. news conference on Wednesday (Korea time).

North Korea is set to explain its stance in the incident to the UN Security Council following South Korea’s briefing, which holds the North responsible for the sinking of the Cheonan.

Speaking to reporters at the U.N. headquarters, Deputy Ambassador Pak Tok-hun said North Korea is the victim and has nothing to do with the sinking of the Cheonan.

Pyongyang has echoed similar remarks through statements, such as military announcements. However, it is the first time the North has officially stated its stance at a news conference since the Cheonan case was referred to the U.N. Security Council.
