UN Hosts DMZ Photo Exhibition

An exhibition of Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) photos has been held at U.N. headquarters in New York to mark the 60th anniversary of the start of the Korean War.

The photos on display, which were taken by photographer Choi Byung-kwan over the course of a 450-day period, testify to the remnants of the Korean War and the tensions between the two Koreas, while also revealing the rich ecological charm of the area that has remained hidden.

U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, while in attendance at the exhibition, said that the Demilitarized Zone is a symbol of tragic national division.
