Soccer ball import records broken with Korea hosting WC

The Korea International Trade Association (KITA) said Monday soccer ball imports hit record levels this year with the country's co-hosting of the 2002 FIFA World Cup. KITA said that Korea imported $6.83 million dollar worth of balls from January to May, a 156 percent year-on-year increase. The five-month import figure also exceeded the $5.78 million posted for the whole of 2001.
