The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said Sunday that three South Korean tourists were killed and two are missing after a boat capsized in the north-central Philippines. The ministry said the boat was overturned at around 4 p.m. Saturday on local time due to storm-produced big waves off the coast of Batangas province, about 1out 100 kilometers south of Manila. Officials said the boat was on its way from the southern resort island of Mindoro to the Batangas port carrying 24 South Korean tourists. Meanwhile, the Filipino coast guard captain was quoted on Sunday by The Associated Press as saying the three South Koreans died en route to the Batangas hospital. He added that the crewmen of the capsized boat vanished after reaching shore and were being sought or possible charges.
