Indonesia's Megawati urged the North to become actively involved in World politics

Indonesian president Megawati Sukarnoputri has urged North Korea to get actively involved in inter-Korean dialogues to help defuse tension on the Korean peninsula. President Megawati is reported to have made the remarks when she met the visiting North Korean chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly Kim Young-nam in Jakarta Thursday. During the meeting, the Indonesian president said smooth dialogues on the Korean peninsula will have a positive influence on all of Asia and therefore, it is imperative for the two Koreas to address pending issues through dialogues. She also stated that she is fully ready to give support for the inter-Korean talks in any manner possible, and expressed hope that North Korea will send its foreign minister to the Asian Regional Forum in Brunei at the end of this month.
