`Korea-Russia friendship express' event to begin Sunday

The Foreign Ministry said Friday South Korea and Russia will embark on a joint train journey entitled the "Korea-Russia Friendship Express" to further enhance mutual understanding on the occasion of the 12th anniversary of establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations. A ministry official said some 260 South Korean collegians, businessmen, artists and journalists will board the express and participate in various events during the 17-day trip that begins Sunday, including cultural ceremonies and business-related consultations The participants will return home to Seoul on August 1st. The Korea-Russia express, carrying hopes of development of bilateral relations and linkage of the Trans-Korean Railroad (TKR) and the Trans Siberian Railway (TSR), will start Sunday in Vladivostok and cross Siberia before reaching Saint Petersburg, the final destination of the journey.
