FM: US to Implement More Anti-NK Sanctions

South Korea says the U.S. will expand existing sanctions on Pyongyang that have been in place under U.N. resolutions.

The Foreign Ministry in Seoul said the actual procedural steps for the sanctions, as well as the entities that will be subject to the sanctions, will be announced by the U.S. soon.

The U.S. is also expected to disclose the concrete details about a trip to Asia by the U.S. coordinator of North Korea sanctions Robert Einhorn. The trip is expected to include a stop in South Korea and possibly China.

According to the ministry, additional sanctions will be imposed on the sale and procurement of materials used in making weapons as well as the trafficking of luxury goods and illegal activities.

Seoul and Washington are urging North Korea to completely, verifiably and irrevocably dismantle its nuclear program, and to stop physical and verbal provocations.
